Meet The Team
Dr Atiya Mosam is a Public Health Medicine Specialist through the College of Medicine South Africa and also holds a Masters of Public Health (Policy and Management) and a Masters Of Medicine (Community Health). Atiya has 17 years of medical experience and 15 years in the public health space undertaking health system strengthening initiatives from national policy development to health management and implementation of interventions. Her work is primarily focused on providing technical advisory services to governments, departments of health and donor agencies. She has a keen interest in healthcare financing and economics, primary healthcare and human resources for health globally and in the South African context, readiness for the National Health Insurance roll-out.
Atiya is an honorary lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand, School of Public Health. She has also served on various Executive Committees, including a role as the Secretary of the Public Health Association of South Africa. Atiya is an IAP Young Physician Leaders alumnus and serves as the chair of the YPL Alumni Committee. She is also currently a Steering Committee and technical working group member for the WHO Roadmap for the Public Health and Emergency Workforce.
Dr. Tshegofatso Maimela is a seasoned public health and preventative medicine specialist with a wealth of experience in clinical practice, health systems, and preventative medicine. Leading the monitoring and evaluation directorate at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, she is instrumental in providing essential data for enhancing health service efficiency.
Dr. Maimela also oversees NHI readiness and hospital efficiency reporting frameworks for 14 referring facilities. She is Public Health Medicine registrar consultant supervisor and an undergraduate lecturer at the Wits School of Public Health. With a focus on health systems strengthening, strategic advisory, and health informatics, Dr. Maimela oversees hospital efficiency reporting and project implementation to improve facility data governance, management practices and data audit procedures.
Committed to improving population health outcomes and health service delivery efficiencies, she offers her expertise to practices, health-related societies, private health companies, and non-profit organisations to promote health excellence through health systems strengthening strategies.

Dr Shrikant Peters serves as the Medical Manager of Perioperative Medicine, Critical Care and Health Informatics at Groote Schuur Hospital, a tertiary academic hospital linked to the University of Cape Town (UCT). In this role he is responsible for the clinical and corporate governance, as well as Acting CEO responsibilities on call.
Shrikant has worked clinically in both urban and peri-urban facilities across South Africa. He is a qualified Public Health Physician, an Honourary Lecturer at the University of Cape Town, and Associate teaching staff at other Universities in South Africa. He is a Council member of the College of Public Health Medicine, and chairs the Sub-Committee on Medical Management.
As an alumnus of the Young Executive Leaders Programme of the International Hospital Federation, he has particular interest and expertise in the use of data for improving healthcare safety and efficiency, strategic planning, infection prevention & control and quality improvement.
